Miyoko Schinner is the daring founder and CEO of Miyoko's, a food brand that is revolutionizing the dairy-free cheese market by combining culinary traditions with innovative food technology. Through a proprietary process that merges food science with conventional creamery methods, Schinner has been able to scale the production of fermented and cultured plant-based cheese and dairy to an unprecedented level. So much so that it could hold the potential key to helping prevent the looming food and environmental crises that face our planet. Under the leadership of Schinner, Miyoko's has become one of the fastest-growing natural cheese brands out there. Their products have replaced their dairy-animal counterparts in over 10,000 stores across the United States in nationwide retailers like Trader Joe's, Target, Safeway, Whole Foods, and Kroger.
As a passionate culinarian, food has always been at the heart of Miyoko's life. She is a former restauranteur and published author with five books to her name, including the bestselling The Homemade Vegan Pantry (Ten Speed Press, 2015), and host of the PBS cooking show Vegan Mashup. Schinner is also the co-founder of Rancho Compasión, an animal sanctuary located in Northern California that provides a home to over 70 farm animals. Her daily meditation is feeding her cows, goats, pigs, sheep, turkeys, chickens, and ducks at her sanctuary, where she lives with her husband and children, along with their two dogs and two cats.
