In a bold play for global relevance in the Earth observation and artificial intelligence sectors, Spanish startup Xoople has emerged from stealth with an eye-catching €115 million in funding and a mission to redefine how we understand—and respond to—physical changes on the planet. Backed by a powerful consortium of Spanish and international investors, including CDTI and AXIS, the venture has been officially designated a Strategic Enterprise by the Spanish government, signaling the country’s commitment to leading the next frontier of Earth data innovation.

The funding round marks one of the largest investments within CDTI’s Innvierte program to date, placing Xoople at the center of Spain’s bid for digital sovereignty and technological competitiveness. “Our investment in Xoople reflects Spain’s commitment to innovation and technological sovereignty,” said Teresa Riesgo, President of CDTI and Secretary General for Innovation. “By helping us better understand and respond to what’s happening on the surface of the Earth, Xoople is strengthening Spain’s digital future, while also contributing to Europe’s broader goals for resilience.”

At its core, Xoople is developing a next-generation EarthAI platform—a purpose-built system that produces a continuous stream of AI-ready Earth data designed to be integrated directly into enterprise software environments. The company’s forthcoming satellite constellation will deliver a consistent, high-resolution dataset optimized for machine learning and geospatial reasoning. This isn’t just about prettier satellite imagery; it’s about creating a reliable digital fabric of the planet that can power decision-making across industries—from food production to global finance.

While Earth observation isn’t new, Xoople’s value proposition lies in turning data into actionable intelligence, in real time, and at a planetary scale. “Xoople is building a new era of Earth Observation, called EarthAI,” said Juan Carlos Cortés Pulido, Director of the Spanish Space Agency. “Their commitment to using AI and Earth data to tackle some of the world’s more pressing challenges speaks volumes. It will help shape a better and more sustainable future for communities worldwide.”

The applications for agriculture and climate tech are particularly significant. In an industry where delayed, fragmented, or low-resolution data can mean missed planting windows, undetected drought stress, or ineffective regenerative practices, the promise of high-frequency, AI-ready insights is transformative. For farmers and food producers grappling with extreme weather, shifting yields, and sustainability compliance, Xoople could become a critical ally—detecting crop health anomalies, forecasting resource needs, and benchmarking carbon performance with unprecedented clarity.

But the ripple effects go much further. Xoople’s EarthAI platform is designed to serve a broad spectrum of sectors: logistics providers can optimize routes and assess infrastructure risk under changing weather patterns; insurance companies can price climate risk more precisely and assess natural disaster claims with real-time verification; governments and civil protection agencies can plan smarter disaster response. Even financial institutions can integrate Earth data into ESG metrics, sustainability-linked lending, and climate risk modeling.

The company’s collaboration with Microsoft through Azure and its alliance with geospatial giant Esri position it at the intersection of deep tech and practical enterprise deployment. “We’ve been so impressed by the vision, talent and momentum of Xoople,” noted Richard Cooke, Corporate Director at Esri. “This takes us beyond a world of images and into a world of insights—providing a dependable ground truth that drives better decisions, from conservation and climate resilience to agriculture and sustainable development.”

The strategic backing from government agencies and tech heavyweights also underscores broader geopolitical undercurrents. As Europe races to develop its own technological ecosystems—less reliant on third-country data infrastructure—initiatives like Xoople serve as flagships for a more autonomous digital future, aligned with the EU’s green and digital transitions.

But beyond the policy implications, the impact on the ground may be where Xoople proves most valuable. If the company delivers on its promise, smallholder farmers, logistics operators, insurance underwriters, sustainability officers, and even city planners could find themselves with an entirely new class of tools—data streams that don’t just inform but empower action.

For CEO Fabrizio Gómez and the team, the vision is clear: to turn our rapidly changing planet into a source of strategic insight. “In our volatile world, the ability to quickly detect and precisely understand changes on the Earth’s surface is more crucial than ever,” he said. “We are excited to be at the forefront of the transformational possibilities of EarthAI.”

As climate, agriculture, and food systems face compounding challenges, Xoople is betting that better planetary intelligence could be the key to navigating what comes next. And with €115 million in its war chest and the backing of some of Europe’s most influential institutions, the age of EarthAI might just be dawning.
