IPOs, M&As & Investments:


Mushroom root-based alt protein company Meati Foods has raised $150 million in a Series C investment round. The capital will help to expand anc accelerate the production and accessibility of the company's popular products.


Argentina-based agtech startup Ucrop.it announced the close of a pre-series A funding round of $3.1 million. The capital will be used to accelerate their blockchain platform and regional expansion.


Smart irrigation startup Lumo announced that it has raised $2.1 million in pre-seed funding and plans to allocate funds toward the commercialization of its irrigation technology.

India’s alt-protein company Liberate Foods with its brand Shaka Harry bagged a total investment of $2 million in funding round led by Better Bite Ventures, Blue Horizon, and venture debt fund Panthera Peak.


​​Steve Easterbrook, the British-born former CEO of Mcdonald's, has invested in London-based vegan quick-service restaurant chain Clean Kitchen Club. The sum invested has not been disclosed.

Positive Carbon has received funding from Austrian investment firm Gateway Ventures to expand its food waste monitoring technology to kitchens across the world.


 

Funds & Accelerators

SVG Ventures has announced it will establish and launch a $50-million venture fund in Melbourne to facilitate the growth of Australia and New Zealand’s agtech sector.

Leading venture accelerator Brinc and Asian culinary platform DayDayCook have announced they will be investing $10 million in sustainable, animal-free foodtech companies through the Good Food Accelerator Program.


 

JV, Partnerships & Grants

Cremer Sustainable Foods, a S$6 million joint venture between Temasek’s Asia Sustainable Foods Platform and Cremer, will provide contract manufacturing facilities to produce plant-based alternative proteins.

​​Israel’s ministries of agriculture, and innovation, science and technology, have put together a budget of + $1 million, for a new academic grant program that will support researchers in the alternative protein sector.

California is the first state to offer funding for cultivated meat. Over $5 billion are earmarked for the University of California system, specifically UC Berkeley, UC Davis and UCLA.

Kerry and ReGrained launch the first ingredient in their partnership a protein crisp made with ReGrained’s SuperGrain+ flour.

Researchers from Tsinghua University and Nanjing Agricultural University say they have produced a “cell factory” that can make cultivated lab-grown meat at a large enough scale to take to market.
